The problem for me with all these pieces is very simple: he's only been in the job a week. Unless they are very good prognosticators they are likely to be wrong on a range of things that have not yet been revealed. I am also uneasy about Burnham, but my unease is about the fact that is only one winner in his cabinet from my point of view: Ed Milliband, for the somewhat dull reason that he had a brief and he delivered on it. Frankly I'd rather he stayed where he was, because the rest of the cabinet are deeply underwhelming. I'm willing to wait for a certain amount of time, but the number of weak-minded people in the cabinet is worrying. Also right-wing papers attack Labour leader isn't a real headline is it?

Excellent analysis. The right, as ever, are trying to be the gravediggers of socialism, but as usual have misidentified the body. Burnham is not a socialist but the latest iteration of the Labour Party in its Blairite Neo-Liberal clothes.
